Noah Lovin’

Noah is my one and only nephew on my side of the family.  He is the most darling, lovable, delightful, angelic lil munchkin!  Oh… can you tell I am a little obsessed?

I mean just look at him!  Doesn’t he have the most squeezable cheeks ever?  Oh and I bet you couldn’t tell he’s half Mexican!  Yup, he sure is!  My poor brother-in-law’s auntie said “why no Mexican?” (her exact words) when she first laid eyes on him.  I sensed a little disappointment.  Judge for yourselves.  Do you guys see a resemblance?

He is truly amazing!  I love him so much!  He just recently celebrated his 100th day!!  Yes, in our culture, this day is considered a milestone.  The tradition is that the baby receives tiny gold rings.  In return, the family of the baby orders tons of rice cakes or “dduk” and pass them out to all the friends and neighbors.  Fun, huh?  Oh and another interesting fact – In Korea you’re automatically 1 year old from the day you’re born.  Weird, huh?  I don’t like that age system.  I shall stick to my American age, thank you very much =).

Here’s Noah and his auntie on his special day!  Don’t you just love the hat?  Somebody’s big pimpin’ =).

I feel so blessed and lucky to be his auntie!  I shall pamper and spoil him rotten!  muahhaha!!!

Speaking of babies, I am currently giving Eastern medicine a shot in dealing with my fertility issues.  I went to Aoma on Wednesday and met with a doctor who specializes in female disorders.  She was absolutely brilliant.  I think it’s so amazing how these practioners know exactly what specific herbs to prescribe just by checking the pulse, tongue, eyes, body temperature, as well as by taking into consideration my diet, health history, and other basic information.  This place is great because the herbs that they use are   chosen with extreme care and under strict regulation.  They can be traced back to the exact lot that they were picked from!  This def gives me peace of mind.

So now I’m sitting here this morning drinking this

It smells and tastes…well, very herby.  It tastes like black tea on steroids.  Actually, that would be an understatement.   Since I have to drink this hot, I can’t use the “pinch your nose and chug it” method.  However, I think I was made to drink this stuff =).  Either that or I’ve done a fabulous job of preparing myself mentally for this.  In any case, it’s going into my system right now and hopefully is working its magic!  I am not going to get my hopes up too much, but the way I see it, I’ve got nothing to lose!  If anything, I feel like it really calms and soothes my stomach.  Anyway, here I go!  Wish me luck!! =)

Hope you guys have a fabulous Friday!!

Question:

Have you guys ever tried herbal medicine or any other alternative treatment?  What was your experience like?

  1. Hi Min – thank you for your tremendously heartfelt comment on my blog this morning! I’m glad my post resonated with you. Visiting your blog, I can see something your 13 year old self would be proud of, this is great! And, Noah is very cute. I absolutely LOVE that hat. Good luck with your fertility journey! Good for you for finding a specialist and trying alternative treatments 🙂

Aww thanks Leanne for your words of kindness and encouragement! I really am enjoying this whole experience of blogging! It inspires me to no longer live with inhibitions but to live to the fullest =).

  2. Hey Min! That’s so fun that your family celebrates the 100 Day mark. I think it’s so interesting to hear about other culture’s traditions and how families blend multiple cultures together to create what works best for them… like sticking to the American age system ha 🙂

  3. Oh my goodness he is the cutest!! His little cheeks! Also I take oil of oregano when I’m sick and brew it with tea. It tastes nasty but it kills
Viruses and is so good to take when your sick!

So I have to agree and say that Noah is a cutie pie 🙂

  7. I am a big fan of using natural products to help with healing such as Pawpaw ointment or herbal teas. Oh, and Noah is such a sweetie, looks like you both enjoy him very much 🙂

  8. Min says:

I do drink a lot of herbal teas, but I’ve never used ointments. I’ll have to try it next time since I’m very prone to accidents =(.

Check out http://www.earthclinic.com. There are many natural cures there for a variety of issues with feedback from folks who have tried it. I believe alpha lipoic acid is one of the best things I found out about there when I was looking for something to help an abscessed tooth. I now use it when I have inflammation or pain issues since I can’t take anti-inflammatory medications through the pharmaceutical route. It is especially good to use whenever you have infections, nerve pain, etc. I warn you though….you could spend hours on that website reading all of the posts!!
